Come and experience the story of one of the world’s most exciting singers and her equally exciting life! Etta James was the living embodiment of American pop music from the 1950’s through her death in 2012. From a gospel music phenomenon at age 4, a rhythm and blues star at 14 and a jazz and blues icon in her later years, Etta James helped invent soul music and rock and roll. A major influence on such singers as Beyonce’ and Christina Aguilera, Etta James was ranked number 22 on Rolling Stone Magazine‘s list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. “Spotlight on Etta James” features 24 songs, including “At Last,” “Baby What You Want Me To Do,” “The Blues Is My Business,” “Cry Me A River” and “The Man I Love.”
Backing up the vocalists in “Spotlight on Etta James” are Michael Vannice (Musical Director/Organ), Brent Norton (Guitar), Randy Magallanes (Saxophone), Daryl Fjeldheim (Saxophone), Jay Jorgensen (Bass) and Steve Sutfin (Drums).

Says director Presila Quinby: “Like a map of this country's hardships for minorities, Etta's life had the ups and downs of a mountain range or a rollercoaster. Given her beginnings, she couldn’t have avoided the drugs and riotous life of a black performer of those times. Rather, Etta embraced them. She rode the rollercoaster to its conclusion. Etta got clean several times only to succumb again, something reflected in photographs by her weight gains. But she kept trying. And through it all, there was that voice, grabbing the listener as if pulling both the listener and the singer alike to unimaginable heights.”
